MEMMS SHED
Residental - Yamanto
STATUS: ON-GOING
BACKGROUND
Like many Australian households currently navigating the country’s well-known housing pressures, the arrival of a new housemate meant we lost our only spare room. Rather than squeeze everything into the main house, we decided to build a purpose-designed shed that could serve as a shared retreat for my husband and me. The space needed to feel finished enough for overnight guests and casual entertainment, while also adding long-term value to the home.
DESIGN INTENT
To create a calm, practical space that belongs equally to both my husband and I - somewhere that supports quiet reading, shared downtime, watching sporting games and personal touches that make the shed feel more like an extension of the home.
CONTEXTUAL STATEMENT
A flexible backyard retreat created for a flexible everyday life - a place to read, watch sport, and simply be, after the spare room was given over to our housemate.
